Keeping Cool, Stepping Strong from Day One!

What a remarkable way to begin our school year!  We are pleased to report that Knoxville Center parents and families came forward during Registration so that 100% of our students were registered before the start of the school year.  All forms and deadlines were met so that students could focus on starting the year on the right foot and stepping into the best year ever!

On the first full day of school, our entire school traveled by bus to Ravina on the Lakes, where students and staff participated in several outdoor education sessions designed to improve our communication and teaming skills.  Sessions included Together Everyone Achieves More, You Can't Call Me Joe, and the Melt.  Students were given a chance to participate in an interactive way to learn school rules, how and when to focus on staff, and how to give and receive help.

When KCSS returned to school, participants were met by 32 Remarkable Guys.  The guys had gathered to show support to the students and to wish them a remarkable school year.  It was a positive and motivating end to a special day.  Many of the Remarkable Guys have made the commitment to come back and support the students during the school year.

Knoxville Center for Student Success is pleased to look ahead at the opportunities during the 2009-10 school year and  to know that our potential is endless!  Attendance during the first two weeks of school has stayed around 96%.  Students are in proper uniform and are ready to learn.  Students enrolled in the work program have been out to let potential employers know they will be calling on them in the future.  8th graders are preparing for their visit to Illinois Central College.  Sports teams are forming and goals are being set.  Knoxville Center is truly Keeping Cool, Stepping Strong!

New School Uniforms

Dear Parents and Students:

When the new school year begins in August, we will be in new uniform colors.  Just like all schools in District 150, we offer the option of a navy blue collared shirt.  Students who attend the Knoxville Center may also wear light blue or light grey collared shirts in honor of our school colors.  Pants/skirts/shorts/jumpers must be black, khaki, or navy blue.  For more information about the uniform and accessories, please see our handbook.  At KCSS, we consider the school uniform part of our "academic gear."  The uniform sets us apart as serious students, Keeping Cool, Stepping Strong!
